CONTEMPLATION

John calls you to repentance, to let go of baggage from the past. Leave behind damaged relationships, and neurotic cycles that devour your emotional energy, diverting you from creative living.
Let go.
Let go any tension in your body and the anxiety that is causing it.
Let go any negative thoughts and place your trust in Christ’s grace and forgiveness.

Focus on John the Forerunner.
Born into the family of a temple priest, he let privilege go and sought the quiet of the desert.
Cousin of Jesus, he claimed no equality, but pointed the way to the one whose sandal he was unworthy to untie.

CONTEMPLATION

John calls you to repentance, to let go of baggage from the past. Leave behind damaged relationships, and neurotic cycles that devour your emotional energy, diverting you from creative living.
Let go.
Let go any tension in your body and the anxiety that is causing it.
Let go any negative thoughts and place your trust in Christ's grace and forgiveness.

Focus on John the Forerunner.
Born into the family of a temple priest, he let privilege go and sought the quiet of the desert.
Cousin of Jesus, he claimed no equality, but pointed the way to the one whose sandal he was unworthy to untie.
Prophet and Seer, he introduced Jesus as the Lamb of God.
Preacher of the Word, he declared "The Kingdom of God is near. Repent."
Voice in the wilderness, he became Elijah to the people, and baptised with water that cleanses.
Martyr in the faith, he confronted corruption and died for his conviction, yet his words speak to us still.
Inspired by John, open your heart, and let go of any motive that is unworthy,
Any activity that is born of selfishness,
Any vindictive impulse or destructive urge.
Then follow the hand of John, as it points the way to Christ, the straight way.
Toss into the air the activities and attitudes of this day, so that the chaff may be blown away by the wind of the Spirit.
Cherish the goodness of the day, and commit yourself to these things.

Before him goes his servant -
Forerunner in the way,
The prophet of salvation,
The herald of the day.
